Baptism publicly announces our faith, identifies us with Jesus, and symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. It\u2019s the way that God wants all new believers to go \u201call in\u201d and go public with their faith. It\u2019s a simple act, but it takes great courage.<\/p>\n

Who should be baptized?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

Baptism is a command and expectation for every believer who has made a commitment to Jesus. If you were baptized as a child, you may not have made the decision on your own to follow Christ in baptism. If you have not been baptized by immersion since asking Jesus to be the forgiver and leader of your life, we invite you to be baptized at Rock of Ages Pentecostal Church.<\/p>\n

How should I be baptized?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

At Rock Of Ages, we believe the Bible teaches that baptism should be by immersion in water as a believer.<\/p>\n

Does baptism make me a Christian? Do I have to be baptized to go to heaven?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

Baptism is something that God commands and expects every believer to take seriously and to go through as an act of obedience. It\u2019s vitally important, but to say that baptism \u201csaves\u201d us or that baptism is required before I can go to heaven contradicts the teachings of the Bible. Jesus told the thief on the cross, \u201cToday, you will be with me in paradise.\u201d The thief had no time to be baptized before dying moments later. Baptism is simply the first next<\/strong> step for a new believer in Jesus.<\/p>\n

When can I be baptized?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

We set aside at least one Saturday per month and announce in advance in our services, bulletin, our email newsletter, on Facebook, and on our events page when the next baptism service will be (we\u2019re really serious about it).<\/p>\n

Can my family be baptized together? Can family members participate in my baptism?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes. We love to see family members go through baptism together, but we don\u2019t recommend waiting long for family members to make a decision for Christ and we are careful to make sure that kids \u201cown\u201d their own decision for Jesus. And we do invite believing parents or close family members to assist as our Pastors baptize.<\/p>\n

What should I bring on baptism day?<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

You have to bring your own shorts\/pants, undergarments, and a towel, along with anything else you think you might need.<\/p>\n
